21 Things To Do as a HENDERSON RESIDENT
Think you’ve seen all that Henderson; NV has to offer? I bet there are at least a few local secrets on my list of 21 activities that will surprise you. Let’s see if you know them all!
- Enjoy a Silver Knights hockey game. The Henderson Silver Knights are a professional ice hockey team that plays its home games at Lee’s Family Forum located conveniently off Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. The games are fun with passionate community involvement, and family-friendly entertainment!
- Paint your own pottery. Color Me Mine offers workshops and classes. You choose a ceramic piece and your paint colors to decorate it and making it your own. This is fun to do as is located in the District so you can enjoy shopping at one of the terrific stores like Anthropologie, Lululemon or Pottery barn while there!
- Go to local farmers’ markets. For fresh, organic produce and a wonderful community vibe, there are lots of farmers markets nearby. Inspirada has a farmer’s market twice a month, the District has one every Friday. It is a great place to find small businesses selling unique items and delicious goodies!
- Cosmic Bowling. The Sunset Station Strike Zone Bowling Alley bowling alley offers cosmic bowling during the weekends with flashing lights, party music, and other effects. The bowling lanes, pins, and balls all glow in the dark.
- Axe Throwing: Our company took the top 10 teams on a fun tour last year as a reward for our success. The final stop was Parkway Tavern for food and Axe throwing. They have digital targets and a scoring system and lots of choices on what Axe to use. It was a lot of fun specifically with our group.
- Combat Zone Paintball. My husband and sons have gone several times and loved it. It is located not far near the M Resort. It is a lot of fun for the full family. If you enjoy something extreme that will get your adrenaline pumping, then paintball is for you!
- Go to a pool party. Many of the neighborhoods have community pools. Another popular spot is the Henderson Multigenerational Pool on Green Valley Pkwy. There are several water play areas and slides. It is a lot of fun to take the kids for the afternoon.
Another terrific way to spend the afternoon by the pool is number 8. Green Valley Ranch pool. As Henderson locals we know that you don’t have to book a room at Green Valley Ranch to enjoy their terrific pool. We enjoy booking one of their Plush daybeds or a private cabana. The pool is fun with a beach entry, and it feels like you are on vacation with pool side service.
- Continuing with Green Valley Ranch is the GVR Spa. It is an amazing spa and wellness setting. From one of the many options for massages or facials to sitting in the steam room and sauna. They also offer information on nutrition and exercise. You will feel terrific!
- Celebrity Cars & Coffee. I had to mention this one for my oldest son Bradley. He is a big car enthusiast. Every Saturday from 7:00 am – 10:00 am the cars line up and you can walk and see some impressive vehicles. It is located off Eastern in BJ’s Restaurant parking lot.
And if you like cars, number 11 is Speed Vegas is an exciting place for everyone with a need for speed! Located near the M Resort, my son and husband loved driving one of the supercars there. They also offer exotics racing and a go-kart track.
- Lion Habitat. This is an incredible place where you can get up close to real lions and even feed a giraffe and watch it paint. They have several beautiful lions and birds. The gift store is fun and had items painted by the giraffe for sale.
- Visit the Clark County Museum: Learn about the history of Southern Nevada through fascinating exhibits and historical buildings. I loved this place when we went several years ago. There is a whole town of old houses and businesses. One of the houses was from Tuscarora Nevada. I grew up in Elko Nevada and my grandma lived in Tuscarora. We visited there often growing up. There are railroad exhibits and it is a great place to see some of the history of Nevada.
- Visit the Ethel M Chocolate Factory: Take a tour of this famous chocolate factory, and don’t forget to stroll through the beautiful cactus garden. At the end of the tour is a shop with lots of yummy options to purchase. You can enjoy a wine tasting and premium chocolate experience. We did it with our company and it was fun. If you go during Christmas, they have the Holiday Cactus Garden light display to walk through.
- Relax at Lake Las Vegas: Enjoy water sports, scenic boat rides, or just unwind by the picturesque lake. It’s like having a mini vacation right in your backyard.
- Join a Fitness Class or wellness class. There is Vibe Yoga or Vibe 28. Many of the gyms such as Las Vegas Athletic Club and Lifetime fitness offer classes and lots of options to stay fit and Healthy.
- Take the Kids to Cowabunga Bay Water Park: Cool off and have a blast at this family-friendly water park with thrilling slides and wave pools. This water park has multiple large water slides, a wave pool & a kids’ area, plus lots restaurants. We really like this place and the season passes are a good value.
- Join a Community Sports League. Pickleball is very popular right now and there are several leagues you can join. Years ago, our Real Estate team joined a kickball team. It was so much fun and a great way to bond as a team! There are soccer teams, softball teams and lots of options to get active and meet new people. If you like Pickle ball, the wildly popular food and family-fun destination Chicken N Pickle is making its home in Henderson. West Henderson has many new options for shopping and restaurants in the works. This area will be very popular in the future!
- Explore one of the many Trails. Henderson has so many trails to hike, walk the dog or bike. We walked our dogs on the Railroad Tunnel trail which is an easy fun walk with views of Lake Mead. There is the River Mountain Loop which is a 34-mile trail terrific for biking. Our assistant loves riding her electric bike on the many trails!
- Water Street District in downtown Henderson. Stroll along the charming streets lined with quaint shops, diverse restaurants, and inviting cafes of the Water Street District. Immerse yourself in the rich history and local culture through art installations, live music, and community events.
- Dine at Local Favorite Restaurants. We have lots of terrific options for dining! Try local favorites like Craft Kitchen, I love Sushi, Settebello pizza or Juan’s flaming Fajitas.
