Reasons I LOVE Living in Henderson
There are so many reasons to live in Henderson, NV. I’m going to share 21 reasons why I love living here! We’ll see if you should call Henderson home too.
Henderson is close to my heart. So, grab a cup of coffee, get comfy, and let’s talk about why I absolutely love living here!
Reason number 1: The amazing weather! We get over 300 days of sunshine a year. We walk our dogs all year round. We have terrific winters here with weather in the 50’s and 60’s. While other places are shoveling snow, we’re out here enjoying a light jacket and some sunshine. So, if you’re a sun lover like me, Las Vegas is the place to be.
Speaking of outdoors, reason number 2: Henderson has some of the best parks and trails. Seriously, we have some of the best places to get outside and enjoy nature, it’s so peaceful and beautiful. One of my favorite parks is Anthem Hills Park. My sons enjoyed soccer practice and spending time in the skate park there.
Number 3: The coffee culture. There are so many unique, independently owned coffee shops. Like this one—Tru Bru. It’s my go-to spot for a morning pick-me-up or a relaxed afternoon drink plus it is very convenient to my office location!
Speaking of coffee, here is a fun fact for you! One of my favorite neighborhoods in Henderson has coffee themed streets including Doubleshot Lane, House Blend Lane, Coffee Bean Place and French Roast Place!
Number 4: Excellent schools. Henderson is home to some top-rated public schools, including Coronado High School where both of my sons attended. We also have several terrific private schools. The community really values education here.
Number 5: Fitness and wellness. There is Las Vegas Athletic Club, EOS, 24-hour fitness and Lifetime fitness to name a few. Lifetime now is offering apartments that you can live in and enjoy the club. We have numerous yoga studios and specialized gyms like Vibe 28. There are lots of options to stay fit and Healthy.
Number 6: The food scene. Henderson boasts a diverse array of restaurants. Whether you’re craving Pizza, sushi, Italian, or Mexican food, you’ll find something to satisfy your taste buds. Some of our favorites are I love sushi, Rebellion pizza and Prosecco Italian Kitchen in Anthem and Juan’s Flaming Fajitas on Water Street.
Reason number 7: The local farmers’ markets. For fresh, organic produce and a wonderful community vibe, there are lots of farmers markets nearby. Inspirada has a farmer’s market twice a month, the District has one every Friday. It is a great place to find small businesses selling unique items and delicious goodies!
Number 8: Convenience for Grocery stores and healthy options. The shopping options are incredible! It’s like we have everything we need right at our fingertips Trader Joe’s is my go-to for unique and healthy food options. Their frozen meals are perfect for those busy nights when you don’t have time to cook from scratch. Sprouts is great for fresh, organic produce and specialty health foods and Costco is a great option for stocking up for non-food items like paper towels and paper plates. I always end up grabbing way more than I planned, but who can resist those giant packs of snacks and household essentials?
Number 9: Speaking of shopping, many of our stores and restaurants are open late. Many shops and restaurants are open later than 9 pm. Smiths and Albertsons stores are open until midnight. Then there’s Walmart, which often has locations open 24/7. It’s a lifesaver when you need to pick up groceries, medicine or just about anything else at odd hours. It’s one of those small things that really adds to the overall quality of life here in Henderson.
Number 10: The Water Street District. It’s the heart of Henderson, filled with charming shops, great restaurants, and lots of events such as holiday parades and fairs. There’s always something happening here!
Number 11: Lake Las Vegas. This man-made Lake is beautiful is perfect for enjoying an afternoon boating, paddleboarding, or just relaxing by the water. It’s like having a mini vacation right in your backyard.
Reason number 12: Proximity to Las Vegas. You can hop on the 2-15 and be at the strip within 15 mins from most areas. It is just a short drive away from all the excitement of the Strip, but far enough to enjoy a peaceful, suburban life. Best of both worlds!
Reason 13: The sense of community. People here are friendly, welcoming, and there’s a real sense of belonging. Community events and festivals are a regular thing, bringing everyone together. It is great to meet other families through the neighborhood activities, gyms or the kid’s schools.
Number 14: Safe and Secure Environment. Henderson always ranks as one of the safest cities in the country, and you can really tell. Crime rates are super low, both for violent crimes and property crimes. It’s so reassuring to know that our families, friends, and businesses are all in a secure environment. I love that I can walk around the neighborhood at night without worrying, and it’s such a welcoming place.
Number 15: Convenience to California and the beach. If you are like me the beach is my happy place. We love taking trips to Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Laguna. You can make the trip in less than 4 hours, which is great for vacationing and enjoying a quick trip to the beach!
Number 16: Low Cost of Living. Nevada does not have a state income tax which helps with the overall costs of living. Overall, our cost of living is lower compared to many other areas.
Number 17: Strong Real Estate Market. Of course, as I am a real estate agent this is a definite plus for me! Henderson boasts a strong and stable real estate market, making it an attractive destination for homebuyers and investors alike. Our real estate market is one of the best in the country. We have condos and townhomes for sale starting in the low $300’s and a wide range of single-family homes starting around $400,000 up going into the multi millions for custom estates.
Number 18: Beautiful neighborhoods. Henderson has master planned communities. These communities plan out parks, walking trails and family areas. The community is thoughtfully planned out, including where the schools and restaurants will be. We live in the master planned community of Anthem within Henderson and love the community!
Number 19: Job market and business opportunities. Henderson is a growing hub for businesses, offering plenty of job opportunities and a thriving economy. There are so many growing industries here including healthcare and tech. My son works at Touro University and loves it. My brother-in-law works at a large tech company – he says it’s booming here. It’s really a place where you can find your footing and grow in your career.
Number 20: Close to Casinos and shopping. We have the Green Valley Ranch Casino and the district located in Henderson. It is an easy way to spend time watching a movie, gambling, enjoying eating at one the restaurants in the Casino such as Pizza Rock and Hanks. Or at the district such as Echo and Rig and Rachel’s Kitchen. Or shopping at one of my favorite shops like Anthropologie, lululemon and Pottery Barn.
And finally, reason number 21: Community Spirit: Henderson is known for its strong sense of community. Henderson was named one of the 50 Best Places to Live in America by Money Magazine. It is a very friendly large town with a small-town feel. There are holiday parades, Art and Music exhibits and car shows.
