Reasons Residents LOVE Living in Henderson Nevada
Community and Lifestyle
Henderson has a strong feel for community and was named one of the 50 Best Places to Live in
America by Money Magazine. Henderson is a very friendly larger town with a small-town feel. I
was born and raised in Elko, which is a small town in Northern Nevada. I moved here to attend
college. I like the small town feel that Henderson offers. In fact, many people don’t know that
we have an official Henderson Slogan which is, “A Place to call Home”. Many of you might
know that Reno’s slogan is “The Biggest little City in the World”. Well Henderson population is
now larger than Reno’s. So, we might be looking to take over that slogan! Watch out Reno!
Henderson offers many community activities like parades, festivals, and car shows. Downtown
Henderson has holiday parades, Art and Music exhibits and classes. You can enjoy car shows,
such as the Downtown Henderson Hot Rod car show or the Cars and Coffee Show held every
Saturday morning off Eastern Avenue. There are multiple locations that hold regular Farmer’s
markets such as the District, Inspirada, Sun City Anthem and Cadence.
When I moved here, I was worried about living in the big city. I assumed there must be a lot of
crime. Even with such a large population, Henderson has gained numerous rankings for being
the safest city in the United States. This is due to the low car fatality rates and low poverty and
violent crime rates. Henderson has many terrific neighborhoods which give residents a feeling
of community and safety. There are lots of gated communities and guard gated communities. I
love my neighborhood as I see neighbors walking and enjoying the community.
I have clients who recently moved here from back East. They were pleasantly surprised at the
casual and relaxed vibe you find in Henderson. It really is a terrific place to live!
I am a real estate agent, so of course I must talk about our terrific real estate market in
Henderson. Our real estate market is one of the best in the country. We are seeing a lot of
clients move here from California and other areas. There are condos and townhomes for sale in
the low $300’s and a wide range of single-family homes starting around $400,000 and going into
the millions. The custom Luxury estates are in the multi millions. Values have gone up over the
years but there is a wide variety of options for home ownership. If you are interested in new
home construction there are several communities such as Inspirada, Cadence and Lake Las
Vegas. Some of the new home builders are Blue Heron, Toll Brothers, KB Homes, Lennar, Tri-
Point and Pulte just to name a few. New homes can be a good option for clients so you can
choose your upgrades and offer high rated energy efficiency construction. Henderson has
multiple high end luxury custom home developments such as Ascaya, Anthem Country Club,
MacDonald Highlands, and Terracina in Seven Hills. There are several age restricted
communities including Sun City Anthem, Sun City MacDonald Ranch, Heritage at Cadence and
Del Webb at Lake Las Vegas.
Outdoor and Recreational Opportunities
The City of Henderson has over 70 parks with amenities including walking courses, dog parks,
skate parks, splash pads, and sport areas. There are numerous trails from short ones that can
easily be walked for beginners to longer 17-mile trails for advanced hikers! If you like water
sports Henderson has Cowabunga Bay Water Park which is a fun water park for families over
the summer and Lake Las Vegas has lots of water sport activities such as paddleboarding,
kayaking, and other water sports.
I have clients that just sold a home in Lake Las Vegas and purchased a new construction home
in the same community also. They enjoy the active lifestyle of Lake Las Vegas. He enjoys
regularly cycling in the community for exercise.
Henderson is close to Lake Mead and the Colorado River, which are good for boating, fishing,
and enjoying the outdoors. You can enjoy Red Rock Canyon and it is a quick 4-hour drive to
either the Beach in California or the Grand Canyon!
Economic Growth and Employment
My husband grew up here and remembers when Henderson seemed so far away. Having been
in the real estate business for over 27 years, I have watched the area grow. I remember when
Green Valley was being developed and seemed so far out. Now we live past that area in
Anthem. As Henderson keeps expanding, we now refer to Inspirada as “West Henderson”.
Henderson provided a highly favorable business climate that continues to attract businesses to
the area. Some of the large employers here include Ford Credit, FedEx, Henderson Hospital,
Raiders, Ocean Spray, Amazon and Levi Straus.
Henderson offers employment including business and financial services, constructions workers,
health care, Casino jobs and manufacturing jobs. Our team has been fortunate to help many of
the Raiders team members find homes. Most of the players and coaches live in Henderson
purchasing in Anthem Country Club, Inspirada and other nearby areas. The Intermountain
Health Performance Center is the headquarters and practice facility and is in Henderson. It
includes a three-story, 135,000-square-foot office area, 1 ½ indoor football fields, 3 outdoor
football fields and a 50,000-square-foot performance center.
Education System
Henderson offers some terrific public schools. There are 20 Five-star public schools in
Henderson. Some of the public high schools include Foothill, Green Valley High School which
offers the IB classes, Liberty High school with a highly ranked football, and Coronado
Highschool where both of my sons attended high school. Coronado has the AP Academy and
students can take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. There are several options for
Private schools including Henderson International School and Foothills Montessori. Our sons
attended Southern Highlands Preparatory private school and then we moved to Henderson so
our sons could attend Coronado High School.
Proximity to Las Vegas
Henderson and Las Vegas merge into each other and many times you don’t realize when you
are leaving one city and traveling into the other. For many years I lived in Southern Highlands
which is in Las Vegas. My real estate office was in Henderson, and they were only about 10
minutes away from each other. Henderson is just minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip with
5-star restaurants and world class entertainment. The 2-15 travels around the city and through
Henderson. You can hop on it and be on the Las Vegas Strip within minutes. You can go to
Raider’s football game in the new Allegiant Stadium or see a Vegas Golden Knight Hockey
game. Soon you will be able to go to the Oakland A’s Baseball team game as they become the
Las Vegas A’s! You can enjoy world-class shows, concerts and dining on the strip. There are some terrific
shops on the strip including the fashion show mall. I like shopping there because of the wide
variety of shops! When you live in Henderson you get to enjoy the benefits of living so close to
the while having small town feel without the hustle and bustle.
From the strong community feel, beautiful scenery to world-class shopping and proximity to the
famous Las Vegas Strip, living in Henderson is the perfect choice for your family. Our family
loves living here, and I am sure yours will also!
