Today, I have with me Jon Powell of Red Carpet Movers, one of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ preferred home vendors.
Every year, the Realtors within our company vote for the top vendors, and Red Carpet Movers is always voted near the top.
Both Jon and his business partner grew up here in Las Vegas. Having opened in 2005, the company is locally owned, and they primarily serve the local market, but they do also serve in California and Arizona, as well.
Many clients need some help with moving, and Jon is an excellent resource for advice. He recommends that, during the move, everyone pack a bag, including the kids. There’s nothing worse than moving into the home late on a school night only to find out that no one has the essentials with them—toothbrushes, changes of clothes, etc.

I’ve seen some clients pack up things like the vacuum and other cleaning supplies. Jon suggests that you store your cleaning supplies in a hall closet until your final walkthrough so that you can use them if you find something that needs to be addressed during the walkthrough.
When a home closes escrow and the buyer moves in, sometimes, they’ll find a previous owner’s possessions. At Red Carpet Movers, the lead mover will do a final walkthrough with the homeowner so they can make sure that everything needed is taken.
